A new radio channel is said to be testing on the FM 107.9 band. This was previous allocated to Hiru FM and the testing is said to be carried out using English, Sinhala & Tamil music. I am unable to confirm who is operating this channel but it could be an ABC Radio Network channel.

If so they will either be planning to launch Sun FM or Hiru FM over this frequency.

This channel is owned by Mr.Namal Rajapaksa (President'ss Son)and it will named as "Tharunnyata Hetak" (that project he conduct).Transmissions are temporaly set on Ocean Tower(SET Buildg)Bambalapitiya & they hope to start Sinhala youth channel in islandwide on early 2009.Most of expertice personal will recruting to this channel.They have no problem for earning.Coz , Gov support businessmen are behind here.
